The 1969 Centennial Parade Collection is two groups of color slides taken by Del & Pat Richardson, shared by Larry Richardson and Lloyd Berry, shared by Jan Berry James.
The Carl Gill Collection is mostly railroad related photos taken by Creston News Advertiser Photographer, Carl Gill.
The Creston Photo Collection is comprised of photos from the Union County Historical Society Archives, the Steve Francis postcard collection, and images from the Facebook page Creston, Iowa Photos, Old, and New by Mark Paxson.
The George Sherwood Collection consists of 1930s era images scanned from 35mm film. Sherwood operated a drug store at 119 North Maple and took many photos of Maple Street from that location. The drugstore had a soda fountain, pharmacy and sold 35mm cameras, and dark room equipment. No doubt George tried out all the new equipment to be able to best demonstrate and sell it. These photos were shared by Dennis & Laurel Gross who bought Sherwood’s house and contents in the 1970’s.
The Hammans Collection was scanned from 4 x 5 glass negatives from about 1910. The Hammans family were rather well to do and built a large new house about a mile west of Lorimor that still stands today. This collection gives a wonderful look into the every day lives at the turn of the century. The collection was shared by descendant Dean & Twyla Brant.
The Harold Roberts Collection was donated by his wife, Flossie Roberts. Harold was the publisher of the Creston News Advertiser for many years. Many of the photos were ones that were dropped off by patrons to be printed in Harold’s column “Round the Community”.
The Hyatt Amusement Park Collection was shared by Randy Hiatt and Connie Hiatt Spurgeon. Their uncle Byron Hiatt built a half scale railroad at the south east corner of Highway 34 and Pole Road. The park only operated a few years before moving to Martensdale, Iowa. Besides the train ride, there was a food stand, merry go round, Ferris wheel and other rides.
The McKinley Park Collection is mostly from the Union County Historical Society Archives and the postcard collection of Steve Francis.
The Petznick Collection is a group of 35 mm color slides taken by photographer, Kenneth Petznick. The photos were shared by Ron and Sharon Hower.
