THIS IS WHO WE ARE

The Historical Village was started in 1966 when the Lincoln Township #5 county school house was moved to McKinley Park. As the years passed more buildings were built or moved to Park to create the Village we have today.

The Union County Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of Union County, Iowa historical documents and artifacts. Our group of nine board members and volunteers maintain 16 buildings in our Historical Village and the many displays inside. We strive to provide interesting and educational public programs with our Last Sunday of the month events.

The Union County Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) organization. We rely heavily  on grants and donations to maintain our Historical Village. The city of Creston and Union County also donate to the Village upkeep. There is a DONATE link at the bottom of the page.

UCHV is a welcoming place for all ages and incomes. We strive to have hands on demonstrations and activities for youths. We do not charge admission to the Village or any of our programs, but we appreciate donations from those who can.
