OTTERBEIN CHAPEL

Otterbein Chapel was located in the southwest corner of section 28, Jones Township.
Colby’s Centennial Sketches, 1876 shows a church at this location although it may have been called Huntzinger Chapel at that time.  In the 1894 Platte map it is listed as the United Brethren Church. The last record found of the church being in use was a funeral held in 1941.

From information found in the newspaper archives there was also an Audubon Church southwest of Thayer. Some of the articles seem to make it a different place from the Otterbein Church and Cemetery while other newspaper articles treat it like it was the same place.
