TINGLEY
Tingley was a post office in the southwest corner of Pleasant Township or southeast corner of Sand Creek Township from 1868 until 1881, although the name shows up on maps much later. It shows up in several different locations on different maps. It is quite probable that this post office was in different locations, as the post office was often located in the residence of the postmaster, and if he moved, then the post office changed locations with him. The Tingley Post Office of Union County closed in 1881 when the new town of Tingley was formed in Ringgold County, and the post office moved there.
The only confirmed location for the Tingley Post Office comes from a National Archives document dated March 6, 1868. It gives the location as the south east quarter of section 31, Pleasant Township. See map below.
