MT. PISGAH
Pisgah/Mount Pisgah/Mt. Pisgah was establish by the Mormons in parts of sections 7, 8, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 30 of Jones Township. They established a big field of 1400 acres for crops and built a mill for a grinding grain in section 31 on the Grand River. As the Mormons moved westward, abandoning their houses, other more permanent settlers moved in and in 1851 a post office was established with weekly mail delivery. For a few short years, Mt. Pisgah was the hub of travel in the county as seen by the number of trails, running through Pisgah on the map. The post office only lasted a couple of years until being transferred to Petersville. Thousands of Mormons moved through Union County from 1846-1852.
