SHEPHERD STATION

Shepherd was a passenger and freight station on the Chicago Great Western railroad located in section 36 of Union Township.  It had a general store and stockyards and was a convenient trading and shipping point for that part of the county.  It also had telephone and telegraph connections.   J. H. Hedrick was the station agent and operated the mercantile business.
