In 1891 the South Valley United Evangelical Church was erected in section 11, Grant Township for $1500. The church was struck by lightning and burned in July 1915. A new church, with basement, was built for $3000 and dedicated January 16, 1916. Sometime in the 1950s the Evangelical Church was merged with the United Brethern Church and services were ceased. The building was torn down in 1960.
