SPUALDING
Spaulding was established in 1879 in the northwest corner of section 11 Spaulding Township. It was built on the north branch of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. Being 8 miles from Creston and 5 miles from Orient, it was an ideal life stock shipping point. The town was comprised of the depot and stockyards, lumber yard, general store, two grain elevators, a bank and a Methodist Church. It had a post office from 1879 – 1933. No record has been found that the town was ever incorporated. I could find no record for any city officials being elected on sample ballots that were printed in the newspapers for any time period. Only a few houses remain today (2025).
